Happy 4th of July. Having a single day off mid-week like this is exciting for me for one reason only – an opportunity to catch up on much needed housework and yardwork instead of having to dread using a highly coveted weekend day to do it. So the husband and I woke up bright and early to get some mowing, weeding, and other outdoor evil necessities complete before it got too hot out. At about noon, we turned our focus indoors and the vacuuming, sweeping and eliminating of extra cats that have piled up this season (Kirbi – whom you met in this post - wp.me/p1N36Q-b1
– is shedding).
After six hours of break-your-back, sweat-tastic labor, we figured we had earned some frozen yogurt. So the husband and I went to Cups.
Cups is like the Hooters of FroYo, complete with double entendre and girls in short shorts. But it does happen to be the frozen yogurt shop closest to my house. When our location opened a few months ago, I checked out their website and was wowed by the number of flavors they had – Eggnog? Irish Mint? Maple Bacon Donut?! Alright, that last one would be off limits for one who doesn’t want to be glutened ( wp.me/s1N36Q-glutened
), but there were still quite a few options. Even better, it looked like there were a lot of choices for no added sugar flavors too. And, much like other chain restaurants in the area, it was easy to find their allergen info online.
So I’ve wanted to go for a while, but of course, I don’t go anywhere unless I have a coupon ( wp.me/p1N36Q-84
). Fortunately for me, Cups put out a “Buy One Get One” for this weekend (you can get one here if you want):
I planned out in advance what I would get before heading over there so as to avoid going crazy with toppings – Nonfat No-Sugar Added Praline with some shredded coconut and walnuts – and excitedly went on my way.
But I was a bit disappointed when I arrived to find that there were only a select few flavors available – not the 50 or so listed on the website. They didn’t have the Praline flavor I wanted, and the only no-sugar added flavor they did have was Strawberry. I’m not a huge fan of strawberry yogurt. I had to make a new decision on the fly, which was tough to do because there was no nutrition information posted anywhere. My other yogurt shop, The Green Cow ( wp.me/p1N36Q-9H
), places nutrition labels right near the handles of each of their yogurts.
I ended up filling half my cup with a Peanut Butter/Toasted Marshmallow swirl with some Reese’s Pieces and Peanut Butter sauce mixed in. Peanut butter is, as I’ve mentioned before ( wp.me/p1N36Q-8X
), a binge trigger of mine, and I think I definitely included more topping than I had the last time I visited a froyo shop – still, I don’t think it was a complete disaster nor would I call this intentionally planned visit to the yogurt shop a binge.
The frozen yogurt hit the spot, but given my disappointment in flavor options, I’ll probably stick with Green Cow.
Going to enjoy some fireworks tonight and then back to a normal workday tomorrow – and then, the weekend!
