Week Six of our Austrailian Trip

Thursday, July 04, 2013

Today we head to the state of Victoria in Australia. We have to cross the Murray River on a small ferry because their is no bridge in that area. I love the fact that their ferries are free. It is just a small ride across

Onward we go to Mt. Gambia where we decide to stretch our legs at the visitor's center. It was very interesting and we learned so much history of the area and about the culture. We hated to leave but all the more adventure awaits us so we have to go. Next is Blue Lake . I Mount Gambier is famous for its 'Blue Lake' which changes colour dramatically each year. The Blue Lake is just one of the lakes within the three craters of the volcano.

Joanie and I begged and pleded to take some time to go to the Valley- Lake Wildlife Park there. It was awesome. We had another chance to catch a few more sites of Australian wildlife and the birds. Many were spotted but I had left my camera in the vn so missed the pictures, drats! I will have to get copies from Joan.

Next stop was Port Fairy where we spend the night at a Caravan Park. It is a very unique little town that I would like to revisit some day. I am back in my world now as I can smell the salt air and feel the nice vreeze. Port Fairy is the start of the Great Ocean Road that we will travel

Up early next morning with a quick breakfast we head toward Queencliff.

After spending the night we head to catch the ferry that will take us Phillip Island. This is a much bigger ferry and we even had breakfast on it. It will take us 82 miles to Melbourne.
. Can you believe it, we are back in city lights, traffic, lots of noise and s h o p p I n g! emoticon It is a sight to behold after being away from city life for so long. But I do miss the tranquil.

OK so now we have left the ferry and head over the causeway to Phillip Island. At the nature park we tour as much as we can stopping to see the penguins and the koala bears. I was reall tired and warn out but the highlight was going to the penquin parade that night. It was awesome. We almost had to drag Jeannie home.

Waking up and driving again we come to Morwell. It is so beautiful here with all of it gardens and roses everywhere.

We have been taking in so much each day, that it is very hard to right about every thing we saw and did. But I must include this. Our 5th day this week we head up to Mt. Hotham. It is quite a climb getting up to the ski area. We spent the weekend there with the beautiful view of the mountains. Most of us even went horseback riding with Kacey instructing on the art of riding to keep from getting sore you know where.

Thanks for reading. I am sorry to see this trip of a lifetime end as there is only one more week to Blog about. So many wonderful memories my head can't hold them all.
