Good thing I learned how to be flexible:)

Thursday, July 04, 2013

Had my 4th of July menu planned out. Breakfast (check) that's where it ends. After breakfast and doing a couple of things DH announces he is taking me out for Mexican food for a late lunch (which means supper would be leftovers from lunch). I had planned on a chicken avocado sandwich with a side of cucumbers and an orange for lunch and for dinner it was going to be grilled salmon and asparagus.
I can say that the Mexican food was exceptionally good and I stayed within my calorie range, but fell short on protein. What I did was eat 1/4 of a chicken quesadilla, followed by 1 (of 3) seafood enchiladas. Ate 1/4 c guacamole, about 2 T of refried beans and the shredded lettuce with tomato garnish with lemon. Thank goodness for portion control. DH spotted a piece of chocolate cake that he would share with yes we brought it home for later. We are not much for cocktails (did enough of that in our younger years), but today we were honoring my MIL who passed a year ago. Our tradition is to make a toast with a cocktail.....had a Captain Morgan with diet coke.
Having been flexible with my plans I tracked every morsel of food and beverage.....I not only enjoyed the day, but patted myself on the back for how well I did.
One day down and a million more to go LOL.
Hope everyone had an enjoyable day and did their best to stay on track. Thanks for stopping by.....HUGS!

Well done! Thank God for doggy bags!
Our supermarket has just started to stock tortilla wraps, which I found after paying vast prices for taco and tortilla kits in the capital! So a wrap with SP chicken taco soup without the extra liquid is my daily lunch at the moment.

Hi Barb...I absolutely LOVED this blog. What a great job you did! Stayed in control, tracked every morsel and still celebrated. It doesn't get much better than that! What do you do with the chicken and the avocado? Would love to try that. ((HUGS))

Fabulous flexibility, Barb! I think that's the part that can make or break you in the maintenance phase and it sounds like you're planning well to make your life continue to be healthy forever! Glad it was a lovely day, too. And btw... love chicken and avocado anything. SO delicious!

Sort of sounds like my day. lol Ending out going out with my son for lunch and over to a neighbors for a cookout. Just finished tracking everything and even with my glass of wine, I also stayed within my range. Like you said - portion control makes a big difference.

Glad you had a great 4th!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds like you had a great day. Cheers to your M-I-L. May she rest in peace.
We had a clam boil, I had a beer and then it was off to get some ice cream in this 99 degree weather.
