One Good Thing Today

Thursday, July 04, 2013

Actually, many good things happened today! I stayed up late last night, after finally sneaking in some time on the recumbent bike... a bit too late. So late, that I slept about 7.5h until about noon! LOVE days off. Of course, this sealed the deal that we were doing NOTHING today.

With the forecast, I'd held little hope of actually getting to take Chrissy to the lake.
Turns out, had I gone to bed and rose at a decent hour, we probably could have! Too late now, the rain has come. So, hubby showered and we headed out to find somewhere to dine. Since I had no b'fast (slept thru, not exactly 'skipped), and it's a holiday - I decided on a burger. Why not let someone else cook it for me? LOL

So, yeah... real healthy... Logging the components as rough guesses, I think I safely totaled the meal at about 1k calories!!! I know it's overstated a wee bit, but would rather that than understating and eating too much more! You're waiting for the GOOD aren't you!

After eating, we decided to run to Big Lots! and see why the parking lot was so crowded, must be a good holiday sale. Nope, just the fact they've spent a bit of money for a facelift on the front, and new doors... and moved everything around on us. I thought it might be good for getting a few extra steps in, but it was actually too crowded to maneuver and stay at a nice, constant, quick pace as I usually do in a store. So, we headed towards home.

Ahhhh, but I remembered my lone nectarine in the fridge, and decided it needed more friends again! So, talked hubby into going to Ingles. Finally, plums on sale... the white nectarines were still too high, but looked so good I didn't care and got some. The sale 'regular' nectarines, were swarming with more gnats than I like to deal with, so I passed on those. Grabbed a couple more pears and roma tomatoes. Also grabbed some bananas and frozen strawberries.

Last week, read the sparkblog (sponsored) for the Pure Protein powder mix. I found the "natural" that didn't have what the regular stuff has in it (Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose). Instead, it's gonna be my first experience with Stevia extract. I got a jug of it on Amazon, and it arrived last night. At least I got to basically do a few laps around Ingles, and it's a good size one... but still gonna ride, maybe the upright bike while we watch some netflix tonight. Still gotta go wash the bounty of our spree...

My back... has been getting more sore each day since Monday's last dose of prednisone. I'm still trying to take it a bit easy on it, but moving at the same time. But, it hurts (insert whining here). So, probably going to get my biking in... then while soaking/washing the new bounty, I can sit here at my desk and cut up my peppers.

Yay! Way to go enjoying a day off!

I hear ya Jamie... just hoping that it's just because the steroids for a week 'masked' the pain... when that stopped, it's sore - while it's still healin'.

Still haven't gone as far as doing the elliptical or the strength (core) machines at the Y... figuring I'm allowing healing time. Got my GP appt coming up in a few weeks, but of course, if it starts to get as bad as it was before going, I will go back to urgent care first.

Maybe tonight, after our 'crazy crew' dinner... might be nice to take another nice soak... see how things are tomorrow.

Kinda doubting we'll be able to mow at all this weekend... supposed to have rain straight thru... so may just choose to go 'shopping' a lot, to get some walking in... need to find some pricing comparisons to some landscape fabric we found at big lots yesterday... and decide what to get - then probably arrange renting a tiller to try and 'fix' the front beds

I think maybe you should make a visit to the doctor if your back is getting worse again.

Sounds like you got some really healthy foods to stock up on, and a good work out in! I am using Nectar protein power- pretty sure its not all natural, but I've looked at a few options. You'll have to report back to us. Hope you have a wonderful 4th!

My hubby grilled a bunch of meat and I made all the sides so it was pretty easy.
