July 4th

Thursday, July 04, 2013

To my fellow American Sparkers, Happy Independence Day! Our Government may not be perfect, we may have issues with some of the people running the country, but let's not forget that we will not be thrown in jail (or worse) for voicing our opinions, for worshiping how we want, and every one has the right to make a contribution towards changing what we don't like. I don't want to get into a big political discussion, but I an grateful to be an American, warts and all. emoticon

So, wow, half a year is gone. Weight wise, and am far from where I wanted to be, but I am still less than I weighed at the start of the year. I purchased The Spark Solution, and I am about halfway through it. I really want to read the whole book and then sit down and work out a plan that incorporates what the book says, but fits in to MY life. Yes, I only work 3 days a week, but with no car, those days can be 14- 16 hours long (from the time I wake until I get back home), depending on the bus schedule, and they are consecutive days. No matter how good a program is and how many other people succeed in/at it, if it doesn't work with YOUR life, YOU won't succeed.

I did get on the scale July 1st. I have set my 3rd quarter goal for 10% of my current body weight. I probably won't weigh myself again until August. I want to focus on my healthy habits as a whole, and I find the scale, the number it gives me, takes that focus away.

Since my original plans for the 4th fell through, I am just playing today by ear. I am going to try Chef Meg's Massaged Kale Salad and I need to pop over to the store and get some lemons for it, but other than that, no real plans. Enjoy your Holiday, be safe if you are planning to set off fire works, and don't forget to keep your pets safe. emoticon
