First holiday with SP.

Thursday, July 04, 2013

I was discussing with Aby about what we were going to do today, as far as food choices are concerned. We're going to see my family, who aren't exactly the most health-conscious folks on the planet and they're known for incredibly heavy meals, complete with rich gravies and starch-filled carby sides and fattening sugar-laden desserts. Ugh. So I asked him how we were going to do this, and he just said, "moderation".

He's right. I need to remember that word today. Moderation.

I didn't burn over 1200 cals at the gym this week to blow it now.

So while my family salivates over the hot dogs and burgers, I'll probably have a small piece of rotisserie chicken with no skin, maybe a deviled egg or two. Some salad. Moderation. Then I'll go swimming in my aunt's pool with Aby, and I'll dream of the day when I get that new bathing suit. :)

It's slow going. But it'll come.

Happy Fourth to all!

I think that's the best we can do when we are at the will of others' menues aside from taking our own food with us. When I am going where I have no idea if there will be any healthy selections to pick from I am sure to eat a healthy meal BEFORE I leave that way I am not hungry when I get there and only nibble on the healthiest choices to be polite. Drink lots of water also.

I read a tip from another SPARKER once that suggested using a cup instead of a plate when in a party atmosphere as it helps to keep portions small and under control.

Happy 4th !!! You CAN do it !!!!

That is a great plan- why in this heat do you want a lot of sauces and things anyway? In the future- there is a 45 calorie hot dog by Hebrew National that you could take and ask them to roast... but the chicken is great. Salad is not a bad thing and it is cool for a hot day. I am so happy you are planning and you are going to succeed with a plan. Love the bathing suit thing... there is nothing that brings home what we are doing here is a bathing suit.

Have a successful 4th!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
