7/4/13 Life is a roller coaster

Thursday, July 04, 2013

Well we have had some ups and downs lately! My Father in law died so that was unexpected - heart attack. My Mother in law took it okay (they were divorced) but she is not always taking her medications correctly which leads to confusion and a recent hospitalization. Things are improving slowiy but there are still some struggles to go through.

My 92 year old mother is beginning a slow decline -- I can see it more now. She still has life left but it is hard to see her become more dependent, physically weaker and the beginning of confusion. So our parents are keeping us hopping!

The good news my hubby and I went on a 2 week vacation to the Baltic Sea! We started with 2 days in Copenhagen and then cruised around to Germany, Estonia, Russia, Finland and Sweden. It was a lovely trip. With the walking we did I managed to not gain any weight, but I didnt lose any either. I was able to wear my reworked wedding gown for the formal night and had some pictures taken. Walking on cobblestones was a challenge - thank goodness for supportive shoes!

Now we are back at home. I made it to the doctor and he gave me a cortisone shot in my knee and in August I will get 3 gel injections. He advised which exercises were good for me, actually said my weight was fine but to NOT SKIP the exercises!! Sooooo I promptly went home and got ready for water aeorbics - sat down in the chair to wait until it was time to go and FELL ASLEEP!! Guess who missed aeorbics? I blame just getting back from vacation for that one. LOL. Now have my exercise schedule in place and plan to start again!!

Ups and downs, downs and ups - life is a roller coaster - my goal is to stablize my weight at about 5-10 lbs lighter and just take it one day at a time.

Blessings and prayers for you. Life is so full of ups and downs, but it is our choice how we respond to them.
