Happy news!

"My" dog didn't move far away after all! They just went halfway to the other side of the "metro area" here-- about 4 or 5 miles. (There are actually two little named settlements here. Neither one is big enough or dense enough to be a town; there are maybe 100 buildings spread out over 50 square miles or so. There is a post office, and a few years ago the school expanded from K-6 to K-12. This year I think they graduated 8 kids.)

Anyway, doggy is close enough for me to ride my bike over and visit, and his new home is a big house so he's allowed inside. He's livin' the good life, in the air conditioning. He'll probably wander back over here in a week or so, though; people have tried to move him before, but he seems to think he belongs on this side of town.

We needed him yesterday, too. Dogs keep the vultures away. Yesterday they figured out that the dogs were all away, and a flock of about 20, plus a handful of ravens, attacked the dumpster and threw trash all over town. Eww, ick.
