I am working double shifts between today and Friday, so no purposeful walking for me. Grrrrr.... Today was very cold and wet, so unlike July.
Tomorrow, I will be working in a men's group home and they are low functioning. Two of the four clients are non-verbal. One constantly makes noises that sounds just like the Walking Dead zombies. The other one gets into the foods constantly...it is a constant battle to redirect him. He needs his foods puréed or thickened. Another one stays to his bedroom but should really shut the door when he does things that should be left unseen. The last one just sits there and stares at the walls. He does help when I need assistance.
From that group home, I go to my regular group home. The house manager who sleeps there is having a huge party. So, I will be helping her host it. Ugh! Then the clean up and passing out their night meds and get them loaded into two vans (she wants to see the fireworks too) and find a place for the clients to watch. Could my day get any longer....?
I have to get up early on Friday for the day program. We are taking them to Blackberry Farms. It is a nice place to see. Then afterwards, back to the group home for my second shift. Saturday, work 10 hours and Sunday work 8 hours. Whew! But not sure when I can squeeze in the walking.
I miss walking, especially walking alone in the mornings with my iPod. I use this time to reflect on my life and plan out my day. Monday seems like the most ideal day to have a "me" walking day! So can't wait! I need a "me" day and not take care of clients for awhile!
I hope everyone has a safe 4th of July!
