Today I went for a bike ride and normally I just go full speed ahead. "This is a workout damn it! Power On! Get it in gear girl and pedal your butt off!" That was the plan again but somewhere along the line I thought "just slow down some and enjoy the ride". I do not have to workout every day like a maniac. I am training for a half-marathon and sometimes I get a little crazy, gotta go, gotta go. Not necessarily over doing it but just too gungho I guess. Sometimes it is okay to slow down some enjoy the scenery. I won't stop and take pictures as I am running, but I did stop and take a few as I was riding. Although the day was cloudy and drizzly, it was a nice ride as usual. (Except for the blasted deer flies and gnats that were trying to eat me every time I slowed down.)
So here is some of what I experienced while riding my bike at Locust Lake State Park.
Lovely wheat field with some sort of pea vine growing in it. Just beautiful!
An old barn and rusty silo that I just love in any season. Today the Ditch Lilies are in bloom, this is typical summer.
This is some kind of Swallowtail on Milkweed.
This one is called an Orange Sulfur.
A nice view of the wildflowers and the lake on a dreary day.
A glimpse of the lake through the trees. Noting some red leaves, not sure why, some sort of distress maybe from our crazy weather.
Monotropa uniflora, also known as the ghost plant, Indian pipe, or corpse plant.
Grasses growing in the water, I love reflections.
A wonderful swimming area to cool down after a run or ride! Woohoo! Love Summer!
My chariot awaits!
That was a very enjoyable ride of about 10 miles, some leisure and some "working it!". But all enjoyable and worth the effort and the slowdown.
