Earning My Keep

Wednesday, July 03, 2013

I am a Level III certified Teacher Assistant (TA) - not a teacher (although I have had experience teaching art and Spanish in private schools). During the first semester of the 2012-2013 school year, I was assigned to a computer lab for Online Credit Recovery (OCR) - for students who were supposed to be graduating but were lacking a lot of credits. They could take courses online and earn credit that way. Kind of a last ditch effort. Well, I worked with a wonderful teacher who'd done this sort of thing before - but we didn't have very high enrollment. I was able to spend a lot of time online, and when I actually got bored, I could write letters.
I'm back in the lab for OCR this summer school. I work with different teachers for each period. And I am BUSY - taking attendance, putting in passwords for quizzes, writing passes to the bathroom, answering questions or referring to one of the teachers, helping with Math and Spanish.
But during fourth period, we don't have anyone coming in, and I stay until 2, so it's a time to catch my breath and Spark a bit.
Pant Pant Pant!

thankful block four exists, thankful too that your staff and students have you. Your role at the school ( and home) reminds me of Radar from M*A*S*H- things would not run smooth without you. Blessings!
