too expensive? need input

Wednesday, July 03, 2013

I need some input on a thought I'm having here...I found out how much it would be for a monthly gym membership for just me...$55 each month. Now my question is is it worth it? Or too expensive for me? What are the going rates and is it too high or seem right for 1 month? So what should I do? My sisters supposed to be starting her swimming lessons soon, its a half hr session that I may need to be taking her to. Ok so what do I do for that half hour? Which is why I was curious about the membership fees...figured id do my workouts while she had her lessons...smart or no? Ok ponder it and help!

    I'd ask these questions, too:

Is it the most convenient gym for your lifestyle?
Does it have the equipment and classes you would actually use?
Have you gone there at the time you would normally go, to test the atmosphere?
Have you checked out other local gyms?
Will your health insurance cover part of the cost?
Do you have to make a commitment for a year?
Are there peple there to help you, without charging you a trainer fee?

Best of luck!

VIPERWEB pretty much covered it. A lot does depend on where you live and on the facility itself. I'm in Ohio and I can find rates between $19-$25 a month.

It depends on where you live. In Manhattan, $55 is pretty cheap. Elsewhere? not sure. I know Planet Fitness tends to be pretty cheap. I guess what it comes down to is how much it will impact your finances and whether you will actually use the gym. Will paying the membership fee compel you to work out more?
