Proud to say I'm hanging in there.. gettin my Whole30 on! Here's a recap of what I experienced so far:
Day 1 Monday: woke up and had black coffee at my mom's. Bf pointed out that it had artificial flavors.. so whoops. We bought a dozen eggs so I made half into chicken, asparagus, and zucchini omelets and hard boiled the other half for lunch on the road. Mama made some southern style (read: cooked all to hell) green beans with smoked venison..yum!...so I took that for lunch with some cantaloupe for us to split. Was great, but Bf got hungry fast. Went to groc store and it was literally like shopping with a toddler.
"Can I have coconut milk coffee creamer?"
"No. Sugar and carrageenan."
"Can I have agave?"
"No. It's a sweetener."
"Can I have international delight french vanilla instant coffee?"
O_o ... "Did you really just ask that?"
As you can see, he was hung up about his coffee. Dinner was zoodles & meat sauce with some marinara I made and canned. No parmesan cheese..womp womp. We cracked open a watermelon we bought at the beach, and I know I ended up eating 3 servings of fruit right there.. and it was used as a dessert. Felt guilty.. but moved on. We took pictures and measurements and I made sure to wear my most unflattering sports bra and booty shorts. They pinched in all the wrong places, so it really accentuated any blubber on my body. I'll make sure to wear the same outfit for head-to-head before & afters.
Day 2 Tuesday: Woke up feeling good. Make some bulletproof coffee with homemade ghee, coconut oil, and lots of cocoa powder. Bf really liked it! Spinach scramble and watermelon for breakfast. Leftover zoodles for lunch. Dinner was greek spiced ground lamb with veggies, side of green beans, and salad. Had more watermelon for dessert. Jeez.. gotta cut that out. I'm trying to make my body recognize that I don't NEED sugar after a meal to feed complete! Bf and I both had day-long headaches and felt very tired. He's quitting tobacco too during this, so I'm guessing his withdrawals are 10x what I'm feeling, poor thing. My head pounded during my lunch break workout and I felt absolutely exhausted by the end of class. Most certainly at the 'hangover' stage.
Day 3 Wednesday: We got our shipment from US Wellness Meats yesterday. For those of you who don't know, it's almost impossible to find Whole30 compliant pork products, especially bacon and breakfast sausage. There's nitrates/nitrites & sugar in most everything you find in a grocery store. We broke into the sausage this morning, scrambling it with eggs and spinach and then stuffing in a sweet potato. Bf said, "I could eat the breakfast every day!". More BP coffee today. That stuff is magic. I usually get growlies by 8 am (since I eat breakfast at 5:30) and am ready for mid-morning snack or a nap. Every time I have BP coffee I'm never hungry for lunch, I just eat because I have to or I'll puke during my workout. Lunch was big serving of roast beef and turkey deli meats (compliant of course), green beans in olive oil, and half a sweet potato. Idk what I'll end up making for dinner. I have a whole organic chicken in the fridge, I may quarter it and roast it with some carrots. Yep, that sounds great. I have to re-up on our ranch mayo supply since Bf can eat it on everything. It's basic mayo recipe with garlic, fresh dill, and parsley added in after it emulsifies. He really can't get enough. Yesterday the headache got the worst around 12pm. It's after 1 right now, still feeling good.. keeping my fingers crossed. Day 4 is supposed to be the day you FEEL great but any and everything gets on your nerves and you're nasty to everyone. Nervous that we're gonna butt heads tomorrow, I'll let ya know how it goes :)
