Making a plan makes excuses sound lame

On July 1, I launched my C25K app that I downloaded many months ago, for the first time with the intent of trying to actually DO it. It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. I was dressed for walking, not running in the bra department. But, the place I was walking at was deserted, so what the hey. I tried anyway, for almost all of the workout program. It went well! I was challenged but it was doable.

When I got home from that workout, later on in the day I decided I'd try that C25K thing again, maybe on a regular basis. I had also decided to do a circuit training type video more regularly, and see what kind of results I would come away with. Thus hatched a plan, which needed to be written out in order for me to see and tweak when needed. I printed a blank calendar and wrote out which days I'd do the c25k, which the video, and rest days, too. My travel plans are accounted for as well.

Today is a c25k day. If I am to do this, I need to get it done early. After my first cup of coffee, I went to get dressed to head out. My sports-bra was missing!!! NOO! I went around the house searching in ever-more unlikely places for it, and came up empty. I almost talked myself into just taking a walk instead, I'm sore already, blah blah blah excuses. I kept looking. I found the dumb thing at the bottom of my closet, put it on, and off I went. SO HAPPY I didn't listen to the excuses! Now I can check today off my calendar.

I really pushed myself to keep going the full minute some of those intervals, who knew a minute could take so freakin' long!! Haha but I kept it up, and I was so proud of myself when I heard the little voice on the app tell me I was done.

    emoticon emoticon what ever keeps you going on the spark trail i must be in the dark ages along with my cell phone all it does is allow me to make phone calls when i remember to take it with me . thanks for the reminder I need to go to radio shake and add minutes this month.

    You rock! I'm super inspired by your determination and refusal to make excuses. And awesome job making it through one of the workouts! It really does get easier, I promise. In a few weeks that minute will feel like nothing even though it feels like eternity now =)

    I did C25K several months ago and a friend just started and was having a really tough time and couldn't make it through the first week. I went with her on a week one run a few weeks ago and was THE most obnoxious cheerleader -- "You can do it!", "Almost there!", etc. She made it through, awesomely (she was probably just trying to run away from my annoyingness...haha). So if you get stuck on any week (though I can't imagine you will with your willpower) drag a perky friend with you! =)
