Happy Summer Picnic's

I' looking for recipes to make our summer picnic's healthy and yummy

any recipes would be appreciated..especially veggie and fruits ones.......

a non scale victory....we went to dinner last night with family..DH"s sister and her husband....

I planned before hand that I was going to have said and some sort of lean protein.....every one ordered drinks and some sort of deep fried fish or took some positive self talk but I stuck with my plan, I had a nice mixed greens salad , no cheese or bacon or croutons....I asked for extra cucumbers, and a my vinaigrette dressing on the side....
I also have been working on eating slow and savoring each bite....I did very well, this morning I am pleased with myself for sticking with my plan....
I think positive self talk and a few success's with help me through this next 2 weeks of family, picnics, and a lot of eating out....

    Excellent Kitt! You deserve a pat on the back from yourself. My plan is to remember the source of my self love even Jesus who wants me to treat my self with respect and not eat the foods that I know hurt me.

    Planning is key - hats off to you. I just struggle with even a plan right now. I can't seem to break through this brain fog of grief, caring for my Dad, my husband's continued poor health (and now his back). I know I need to muster it up somewhere within me, but it seems it takes all my energies just to do what absolutely needs to be done. I just can't find the energy to focus. But I've not gained. I need to push myself harder. As always, you are my inspiration. My plan is to get back on track with planning my menus a week ahead, cut up my veggies for the week, and set for myself some reasonable exercise goals that I can aspire to.

    That's a great plan, Kitt. My plan is to try to stick with as many fruits and veggies as possible and work in some lean protein. Have a Happy 4th. emoticon

    I love a big greens salad and I prefer to pick up each leaf and dip it in my vinaigrette. Fingers before forks. Eating each piece means it all gets chewed.

I ate that way at the Botanical garden café today. Others had sandwiches eating with their hands so why not do it my way too. I eat much slower and it is easier to stop when you are not holding your fork. HUGS .

    Here are some that I have "pinned" and served to my family:

Sweet Cucumber and Mandarin Orange Salad.
The recipe calls for 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar, but I reserve the mandarin orange liquid and use it in place of the sugar!

Great job of choosing what to eat and sticking to your plan. SOmetimes it just takes people saying, " Oh, that's crazy ole Kitt ordering her salad again". I know when someone notices I order lighter that it makes me feel good about making a healthy choice regardless of what everyone else does. I mean, the old saying goes, ' if everyone else jumped off a bridge...' I try hard not to jump off the bridge with everyone else. emoticon Keep Sparking and following your plan. You'll get where you want to go!!!
