SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS
Obedience requires the right attitude. Anyone can obey and have the wrong attitude about it. Some obey unwillingly. They don’t want to do what God commands them to do but they do it because they feel like they have to. Some obey filled with jealousy and envy. They really want to be doing what everyone else is doing. Some obey in doubt because they feel like they have better plans than God. However, when we obey with wrong attitude, God isn’t in the midst of what we do. We must obey and serve Him with gladness.
Psalm 100:2 “Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” (KJV)
Dear Lord, we want to obey You willingly, joyful and lovingly. Help us to put aside any ill feelings we have and come to You for direction so we can do Your will with the right attitude. We know that wrong attitudes cannot serve You in the way You want to be served and cannot make the difference You want us to make. Help us with our attitudes today as we work in obedience to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We must strongly desire to do God’s will and do it joyfully.
God wants our good attitudes when we do His work not our bad ones.
What kind of example are we setting when we do the Lord’s work with a bad attitude?
In anything we do for God, we need to be sure our attitude is one that is giving and loving so we can really see what He wants us to do for Him.
Seeking God in all we do will help us to have the right attitude He wants us to have.
Psalm 69:32 “The humble will see their God at work and be glad. Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged.” (NLT)
