July 3 - Breathe!

I had another pretty good day yesterday. The only thing that kept it from being an awesome day is that I, unfortunately, could not completely fight off the night time eating monster. But in the vein of trying to find something good in the not so good, I will say that what I did eat was under control.

I am happy that before that, I managed to get that additional walk in with my friend. We walked for a solid 35 minutes, and would have walked for more if my bladder had allowed ;)

Today's Spark advice is:

Just breathe. When
a stressful situation
arises, breathe in and
out slowly and deeply
for 10 full breaths.
Exhaling slowly
decreases your heart
rate and calms the body,
helping reduce stress

I certainly recognize the importance of breathing from the little bit of yoga I have dabbled in. And it really does work. Hopefully this reminder will stay with me when the stressful situations arise. I also think it's a pretty good idea to do it a couple of times a day anyway, whether under stress or not. Kind of like a little mini-meditation period. And it can be done anywhere, at any time. It's all good. Will try it and report back on my progress..
