Another late blog but at least I know why I hurt finally.

Tuesday, July 02, 2013

Hi there, I have been whining about my tail bone problem. I went to the Dr to hear the results of another Dr. who was covering for my regular GP.
She said all of the blood work and cultures were normal.

I am afraid at that point I was getting a little bit miffed if you know what I mean.

I went on to say so you say there is nothing there but I say I am in pain is it all in my head.
She started in about referred pain etc and I know my face was giving my self away by now.
The Dr said she would have my Tail bone X-rayed. I told her she had already done that. At that point she looked at the report.
She went on to read it out loud. The coccyx(TAILBONE) was normal but I have SEVERE arthritis in the junction of said tailbone where it joins on to my sacrum. She distinctly emphasized the severe so I really want to see it myself.
Now I am asking myself I wonder if she is reading that to me or ad-libbing because I was never told about this earlier. Maybe she wants to placate me I just do not know with Drs. any more. I am thinking they are all so much younger than me so perhaps they are oblivious to arthritic changes.

Tomorrow I will be down to X-ray and ask for my X-rays to take them to my Acupuncturist MD he will go over it with me I know he will,. HOW about that. GRRRR

Wow! That's scary. I will be curious to see what the acupuncturist has to say. So many of us are dealing with arthritis in one place or another these days.

I tend to think that this is a distinct possibility. And now that you can confirm it you can take measures to deal with it.

Sorry to hear that you are in so much pain Pat.
I also have it, but not as severe as you. If I go
Shopping, I can't go for more than 40 minutes
Max as my back is killing me. Finding a good physician
Can be hard. I hope the acupuncturist finds some answers.
Take care. emoticon

Pat,

Sorry to hear about the arthritis in your back. Can be quite painful. Sounds like you need to find a good Internist. I know that can be hard to find these days, but when you do get one it is great. I found one when she first started seeing patients out of medical school about 10 years ago and now just about everyone I know uses her as their Primary Care doctor. We all love her. She is no non-sense but VERY thorough and wants to ensure you get back to full use whenever you have an issue. She also does the least invasive (like using physical therapy before injections etc.) to resolve an issue. She is quite busy but she says just call her nurse directly if you need to see her the same day and she WILL fit you in regardless of what the schedulers tell you. She works in a very large practice (about 100 doctors) that have a variety of primary care and specialists. Best thing is it is only about 3 miles from my home.

You might have to try several doctors before you find one you trust. Trust is so important with your doctor, especially as we get older and naturally need more care and have more issues. There are still some great ones out there, you just have to search them out. Ask friends in your area for references until you find one you like and trust. Schedule a consultation and tell them what you are looking for, that's what I did when I first went to see her. My former doctor retired and I was specifically looking for a younger doctor who was thorough and would be able to see me for some time to come. Once I had an annual physical from her I knew she was the right doctor for me.

Pat, let me know what he says. I have a distrust with doctors. There is one in the ER here, well maybe two, that I would try to trust. They have been taking care of my DH and so far so good. HUGS, Terry

OMG! I can only imagine the pain you're experiencing! Yes, I think part of it is that the Dr. just doesn't have a clue about the kind of pain you experience w/arthritis!

I hope that the acupuncturist can help you come up with a plan to reduce the pain.

HUGS and glad you're such a good advocate for yourself!

Time for some new, more patient and supportive doctors. You wouldn't buy crappy food, would you? So don't continue to go to doctors who fail to truly PRACTICE medicine! They are few and far between but if you keep looking you will eventually find one who is kind and a good communicator.

Goodness, how frustrating. Glad you have found out, but I know what you mean about youthful doctors - like policemen, they get ever younger.

I understand what you're saying Pat...& perhaps you may need to see a physician whom specializes in arthritis, a Rheumatologist. They would better be able to diagnosis & treat what ails you...& help to alleviate your pain & discomfort. I may also suggest you research natural remedies that may help...such as foods & exercises that can ease your pain. It's just a thought.

Hugs for you, hon. Wishing you better days!

Hope your feeling better soon. That kind of pain is hard to control; being in the bone. Arthritis is painful enough without adding bone pain too.

Something must show up on the xray. I hope there is something to be done to make you more comfortable. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

So sorry you are in so much pain. I know it can be frustrating when they try to explain things to us that they think we should understand. If yhry would tslk to us in laymans terms it might help.

Here's hoping your acupuncturist will do a better job.

Time for bed. Have a great day tomorrow.

Keep at them until you know the answer, I found that out the hard way. You have to be your own advocate. Best of luck.
