Day 9 of the Spark Solution

Slept 9 hours and still had a hard time waking up. For breakfast, I had the Spicy Tomato-Egg Muffin, which was ok. I would have preferred it without the Greek yogurt sauce. I couldnít even taste the hot sauce at all, even though I slipped and put in a few extra drops.

It was a cool morning, so I rode my bike for 35 min. (6.6 miles) then did 35 minutes of my Biggest Loser walking dvd with dumbbells and medicine ball for a good upper body workout. This time I turned the volume all the way down, used my own music, and just followed what they were doing to my own beat. It changed things up from the norm since I was moving to a different tempo. I definitely had more bounce in my step this way.

I loved the Lean Philly Cheesesteak for lunch. Another new favorite I will definitely make again. There is no way my family will even consider eating turkey chili again as they HATE ground turkey, so we opted for the Pan Fried Chicken (which is actually baked) with Better Buttermilk Biscuits, and Rainbow slaw. It was a decent meal. I like my slaw recipe better than theirs, and mine has less calories. No one complained about any of it, which is a plus. Kitchen was a disaster afterwards.

Took an evening walk with hubby, then a second walk with my son, so he could get a half priced shake at Sonic. A while back, I got a large shake, then looked it up after I got home and found out it had about the same amount of calories as Iím allowed for 1 full day. Donít think Iíll be having another any time soon. Maybe as an end of summer treat, Iíll work it in by just eating veggies all day.

I may be the only one, but I LIKE ground turkey (and it's especially good when mixed with powdered sausage seasoning to make fake sausage.... I buy my sausage seasoning from a real butcher's shop)

Shakes are high in calories. I cut out the carmel one at Wendy's, because I liked those.

I was buying ground turkey to make chili and (gasp) decided to READ THE LABEL. I discovered that the 96/4 ground beef I used to use was way lower in calories and saturated fat than the ground turkey (it was 80/20!) that I had substituted for "health" reasons. Back to making real chili again! Roast turkey may be better for you than roast beef, but when the packers make ground turkey they can throw in all kinds of scraps and fat. I can't imagine the number of Sparkpeople eating high fat turkey burgers and turkey chili, as if that is a good thing, without checking the label to be sure it is the extra lean ground turkey.

Sounds like a good day. I understand the kitchen disaster. It is hard to do a fully cooked meal. I try to have leftovers from another meal to round out whatever I am cooking. That's easier to do when there are just 2 people to cook for rather than a family. emoticon

My downfall was a whoopie pie (chocolate cake thing with white creamy filling) and those things have close to 1000 calories. I love them, and even cutting it into fourths makes it close to 250 calories. emoticon What do you put in your rainbow slaw? I have some bagged rainbow slaw... my dressing uses mayo, sugar, and vinegar...
