Cast off, splint on part time...

Tuesday, July 02, 2013

Dr said I will not need surgery and I am back to work full time. Will probably be weaned off splint in 3 to 4 weeks. I will be able to swim (gently at first) and play piano again, but no Rachmaninoff (too difficult for me anyhow) .... It will be nice to return to the weekly dinnertime music at the Ebenezer Home ...and I have missed the people there...they are so friendly and always compliment my piano music.

When I went to ortho office I asked the surgeon who did my knee replacements to check out my knees. I have good range of motion and the replacements are in good position according to x-rays. The main problem I am having is pain and stiffness which is caused by rather severe tendinitis which should improve once I get back to swimming again. When the doctor lightly touched my knees along the incision lines I yelped a bit and jerked nearly falling out of the chair. He asked what my symptoms are and I said they feel like I have giant rubberbands around my knees, making it difficult to walk and go up and down stairs.
I hope to get improvement once I get back to the gym again.

Its amazing how the working out helps with pain as well as losing weight isn't it? I know I feel so much better when I am keeping to my workouts than when I don't and thats self motivating. I know you are looking forward to getting back to swimming again! emoticon

Glad you have graduated to the splint. Now it is time to get to the pool and get those knees back to feeling better.
