Update on mom and also my week weight wise...

Tuesday, July 02, 2013

I talked to mom tonight and went and saw her about three days ago, she looked tired and weak and said she was not eating much...but was eating some.

Then when I called her tonight before I made dinner, mom did tell me that she has finally been eating a little bit as this morning she said she ate some cereal and at lunch they gave her some cheese ravioli which she said she did not really want, but tried to eat anyway. I do not know what she had for dinner or if she even ate dinner. She says for me to bring her some stuff to help hold her wig in place better when I go to see her again.

Also this week has been a little tricky as I am running out of food.

I have some smart ones meals for dinner, lunch meat for sandwiches, soup and chilli.

But nothing for breakfast but oatmeal and NO fruit.

I get my big check tonight from social security...but, that pays the house payment and then what's left goes to live off of.

Where should I go for things like...

Diet drinks

Dish liquid

paper towels

light bulbs

and lastly...boxes?.

I am hoping and praying that I have a small loss or at least stay the same this week.

Get rid of the diet's SO bad for you. Water is in the tap. Cereal, Fruit & vegs from the food bank. Dish liquid, paper towels, light bulbs should all be available through churches...even if you don't belong to one. Most churches love to help when they can & these are all things you need. Boxes from the grocery store, Craigslist or liquor stores. Good luck!

Glad your Mom is trying to eat.
Also, if the budgets really tight there are places to for food, churches & Senior Gleaners, etc...
Also most Counties will have a brown bag program where you can sign up & get a produce box & other items for a reduced price. It is great for helping stretch your groceries last all month.
I am disabled & have SS & these resources have helped me in the past.
The churches & programs are there to help you through this rough time, especially with your Mom in hospital/nursing home.
Also, Salvation Army will help you with food & help paying rent, utilities & they may also have paper supplies.
Best Wishes Lance!

Water is free, you don't need to buy it. Water and black coffee are diet drinks. I was very poor when I lost my weight, little kids and a husband in graduate school, yet I managed. There were no clubs back then, just neighborhood grocery stores. I have more money now, but I still shop carefully at Costco, Sam's and Walmart. I think that's WHY I have more money.

I hope your mother feels better as time goes on.

I'm not sure what resources are available for low cost in your area; in my area, WalMart, Target, Food for Less, and Costco are the cheapest. For boxes, you can usually get FREE boxes at the back of the grocery store, or at the liquor store.

Try the dollar store for some of that. Also, Costco/Sam's/BJ's might help.
