Morning workout

Tuesday, July 02, 2013

Finally, I'm getting it together with the exercise. For the last three out of four days I've gotten up and walked for about 35 minutes. It's not as intense as I need it to be, but it's a start!

My new job is fun, but taxing and I was missing too many evening workouts. Now, I'm struggling to switch my workouts to the morning and it's finally happening.

If it's raining, my backup plan is to ride my stationary bicycle. On the weekends, I'm planning to drive to area trails and walk or hike. I need to resume weight training, so I might try to mix in two morning trips to the gym a week. My gym is only a mile or so from the house, so I really have no excuse.

My eating has been okay. Still a little spotty with the food diary, but I have remained vigilant and mindful of my eating at every meal.

I doubt my current habits will help me lose more weight, but the good news is that I just started my 9th month of maintaining a 50 lb weight loss.

I read in a book once about a woman who took five years to lose her weight. She'd lose some, maintain it for a while, then lose a little more and maintain that, too. So over the course of five years, she ended up losing eighty pounds in 5, 10, and 20 lb increments. Maybe that's what I'm doing. I don't know. But I do know that the answer is not to return to the habits that caused the weight gain to begin with.

So I continue to push. One day, I'll pull everything together and make it happen. I just need to be patient with myself.

I feel like the 5 year lady...honestly! It can be hard and depressing to emoticon when so many others here are losing pounds within a years time!

I am making peace with it though and if it takes 5 years; so be it! Just don't give UP!!!!

It took me over a year after reaching goal to get used to not losing weight; but I took the weight off quickly. The way you're going, maintenance will be No Big Deal when you get there!

Congratulation on the 50 pounds. 9 months maintaining is good. You will lose more when you are ready. Exercise is good. Keep working on it and you will make it.
