June update...with a question at the end...

Tuesday, July 02, 2013

Hello everyone!!! I've been offline since Weds. or Thurs. or last week. Had my colonoscopy on Thursday, and it was normal. This is a good thing, and a bad thing. Good for obvious reasons, but bad because it means they still don't know what's going on with my GI issues. So far, since I've had it done (knock on wood) nothing has been bothering me (knock on wood some more for extra protection - lol!). Maybe my colon just needed a good cleansing, and now that it has happened I won't have anymore issues (crossing fingers here). Maybe I'll just have to do a cleaning when symptoms reappear, or something. I'll see how long I can go without anymore GI issues and see what happens. Strange thing is that when I went all that time without food, I gained weight instead. Is that normal?

It's totally possible to gain weight without eating. It could be your body holding onto all the "fat" because it thinks you are trying to starve it. Give it another week of having things "back to normal" and then see what the scale says.

People mentioned what happens to your weight if you were drinking a lot of water, but on the other hand, you got rid of a lot of stuff in your bowels through the cleansing and your body may have retained fluid in response to that!

Glad to hear all was normal! The scale is so incredibly variable and if you were drinking all those fluids it can cause a temporary weight gain.

Hope you stay well. Sorry you don't have any answers. Have they checked you for celiac's? I think I've asked you before but my memory isn't always that great. emoticon

Good news that colonoscopy was negative!
What about probiotics? Here is a link to a good article I just read and I noticed some good Eden supplements as a link there too. I may start trying something like that myself, after reading that dairy isn't good for us. Wow...I drink a lot of milk and that was a shock to read. Maybe we are doing our gut a disservice with all the sugar, and processed foods of course, but dairy?! emoticon

If you were drinking a lot of water, yes. Remember, water may not have any calories, but it has weight. So, if you were to drink a liter of water and not go pee, the scale would go up. Don't worry, any gain is nothing more than water retention that will pass in a few days.

Hope that your GI issues are now resolved.
