The past couple of days the weather has taken a dramatic change and for the most part we are really enjoying it. We had a storm yesterday evening, awoke to rain and lightning at 2:00 am and another bout of rain just before 5 am. The air conditioner is off, the windows are wide open and a cool refreshing breeze is blowing gently through the house. The cats are parked by the front and back screen doors taking in the damp cool air and studiously watching the happy birds call to one another. The gardens got a nice soaking.
Not everyone is enjoying our summer storms; the east side is without power this morning thanks to the high winds that accompany these storms. While I love the monsoon season, one can never predict the intensity they will hit with and where the damage will occur. They bring a much needed relief to the intense summer heat, but all desert dwellers know the wallop these storms can pack and how careful one must be when traveling during storm season. Here's to wishing everyone a safe and wet season.
