Day #71 - Educational Exercise
Tuesday, July 02, 2013
Last Wednesday, Day #71, 6/26/13 was pretty good.
Here's the exercise that I did Wednesday (6/26/13):
3.5 miles of walking - Wednesday's lunch walk was to the American Red Cross Headquarters
So Wednesday was another day where the afternoon temperatures reached into the mid 90s. I honestly did not feel like doing my entire lunch walk outside in that type of heat again (Monday and Tuesday were both very hot lunch walks). So I decided I wanted to walk somewhere that had air conditioning. I didn't want to necessarily go to a museum (they get pretty crowded during the day), so I needed to find somewhere else to go. So I did a little internet research and came up with the American Red Cross Headquarters. They do free tours every Wednesday and Friday, so that worked out perfectly. Here are some additional pictures from the walk:
So the tour of the American Red Cross HQ was great. I actually was on the tour by myself for most of the time. It was pretty cool. My tour guide was an archivist at the American Red Cross HQ and she absolutely loved talking about the organization. So on the tour I learned a ton about the American Red Cross, International Red Cross and Clara Barton (the founder of the American Red Cross). I also got to see a lot of cool Red Cross exhibits and items that were over 100 years old. So it was a very educational lunch walk.
I didn't get in any exercise in the evening because I had an evening meeting and had to do some work around the house, but it was still another good day.
