laughing yourself to health

Tuesday, July 02, 2013

Optimism supplies the basic energy of civilization. Optimism doesn't wait on facts. It deals with prospects. Pessimism is a waste of time ." Norman Cousins

The author of this quote had a life threatening form of arthritis. He then checked himself out of the hospital and into a hotel. He hired a nurse to check his blood. He then starting doing his favorite thing. Laughing.

He laughed every day .He watched his favorite funny movies ,read funny books. Cousins even had his funniest friends show up to entertain him. he laughed often and much. If people weren't an optimist they were banned from his room.

The nurse did an experiment while checking his blood and found that after minutes minutes of genuine hearty laughter Cousins immune system cells increased in number and activity by 50 percent.

He kept laughing daily and lived for 26 more years. So go ahead laugh your troubles and your aches and pains away. Laugh often and much. Laugh at your mistakes . Or go ahead just laugh for the pure joy of it. You will be an optimist in no time.
