Wish this foot would get better soon

Monday, July 01, 2013

I running shoe shopping today hoping I could get something that would cushion or make my foot and big toe joint feel better. I have come to the conclusion that it's not my shoes - it is the joint after being fitted with several pairs of shoes. It is very stiff with little flexibility. It hurts more than I expected and probably more than before surgery. Before surgery the pain came and went and was most noticeable after being active. Now it hurts almost all the time. I think I'm favoring it and walking/running more on the side of my foot than before.

From what the doc last told me, it takes time. So I'm trying to be patient but it's hard not to go a little negative. I really hate to think that foot-based exercise is going to be this painful. I'm hoping it is just part of the healing process and eventually it will be ok.

Sounds painful. It is amazing how much difference each joint can make when it is in pain. I suggest swimming and strength training while it heals. emoticon

Hang in there. All injuries heal differently for different people but they do heal in time.

I have had pain in the past so I usually back off a little.

I'm so sorry Suzie. I'm with Irish. I'd speak with the doctor. Did he give you any rehab instructions for the joint?

I'll echo Irish - check in with the doctor again and reiterate that you're experiencing more pain now than before. That simply doesn't seem right, even given the fact that healing takes time.
Good juju sent your way for more relief and less irritation!

I hope your foot gets better. It is hard to be patient while you are healing. Have you tried adding foal inserts in your shoes to cushion your walk/run?

My two cents worth - I'd make a call to the doctor's office - it can't hurt to ask your questions and/or voice your concerns.
