Another wonderful day in the mountains! It was actually cold today, not that I'm complaining! High in the low 70's. Home was in the 100's again today!
We started the day with an beginner 1.5 mile hike along a little trail that follows the river by the side of the mountain. I could not believe how easy it was for me this year! Huge difference from last year. This year, I did not even get winded! As I was climbing, I could feel the strength in my legs, which made the climb easy! I have never experienced this before! Even when I was younger and a healthy weight, I was not athletic, so I have never really exercised before. So while I was thin, I did not have any muscle tone. This is so new to me and I love the feeling of having strength in my arms and legs. I even noticed it when I went to the store to pick up ice and had no difficulty at all carrying 2 large bags of ice to the car!
There is a moderate hike on Saturday that I want to attempt. It is 4 miles roundtrip with a 600 ft. climb in elevation. After the hike today, I think I am ready for it!
I am still getting used to this new body and what it is capable of. I only wish I had started this journey sooner. I could have felt this good for years!
The rest of the day was pretty restful. I bought a card for DH and developed the pictures from yesterday to send to him, so he wouldn't forget me while I'm gone!
Tonight, we are playing games and just enjoying being together!
I am not sure why my weight is up, but I think it might have something to do with the new strength training program I started last week. In the introduction to the video, he said that weight gain was common during the first few weeks of the program because your muscles retain water as they are building. Hopefully, that is all that it is. I am not worried about it, though, because I know that I am eating and exercising and doing my part! The weight loss is sure to follow.
I found another "before" picture from my dad's 80th birthday party! This was at my heaviest of 245. I just realized that I have not cut my hair since I started this journey, so I have decided I will continue on with this trend. My husband likes my hair long anyway, and now I have this Samson thing going on. We'll see how long my hair gets before I lose all the weight! (I'll just do trims to keep the hair healthy)
This is me with my immediate family at my dad's 80th birthday. It is very rare that we are all together at the same time! (mom, dad, 3 brothers, and me)
Below is me now...
I never want to go back to that first picture. Although I was smiling, I was not happy and was on a path to destruction with my health. My wonderful family loved me through all of it, but it makes me feel so good to see them so proud of me now and not worrying about my health anymore!
As you can tell, we are really enjoying our vacation and the time to get away from it all! My only regret is that I don't have as much time to spark with y'all as I would like! I am really behind on reading all of your blogs, and I don't like that! I don't want to miss anything that is going on with you! I will do my best to catch up with everyone as soon as possible, but it may take me a few days!
I can't tell you enough how much you all mean to me! I absolutely believe that I could not do this without you! You are the secret to my success!!!
Have a terrific Tuesday!
