Officially in a plateau

Monday, July 01, 2013

So I have been eating well, exercising consistently, yet staying around the 170s, I now admit that I am stuck in a plateau. It sucks. But I'm feeling so much better exercising, and for the first time in my life I actually am not absolutely dreading working out. Whenever I do work out I just imagine where I want to be. So I think for motivation I'm going to start taking pictures every two weeks, in a *gasp* BIKINI. Yes I'm still fat for a bikini, but that way I can see the finer details on what (or what is not) happening. So I hope that way I can stop focusing so much on the scale.

I started strength training recently, and I also am on week 4 of C25K. If any of you have any tips or tricks for either, please let me know! Thank you so much. :)

My tip for plateau is change it up do some different kind of exercise. I feel like a plateau for means I am doing too much of the same thing and need to do something different for a bit. Or you might be putting on more muscle from running and lifting. I lost weight when I started running initially but now that I am kinda at the weight my body likes. If I run too much, I start gaining. I would just watch your calorie count closely and try to stay on the lower end.

Awesome that you are pushing through and not letting it keep you down. I love the bikini idea. Just make sure you focus more on the positive and not all your perceived flaws. Attitude is everything.

Great that you're motivated and feeling better from working out! Love that! Good feeling. emoticon

Plateaus happen. Try to learn what works and what doesn't and you'll fine tune your plan. Spark has articles about plateaus, how to bust them. There are some really good ideas there. emoticon

Good idea to take pics and not focus too much on the scale. I think measuring is good too! emoticon

My biggest advice for runners is STRETCH. emoticon

Spark has an article called yoga poses for runners. Excellent. Also, Coach Nicole made a 10 min video of the best runner's stretches. Highly recommend that. Running is awesome. And stretching is a necessary part. Don't skip it. Muscles will tighten up, could lead to injury. I've learned that the hard way. So, stretching is the way to go. emoticon
