Day One of the 30 Day Shred!

Today was my first day doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred workout! I got up this morning and after a pre-workout snack, I got right to it. I knew that I needed to do it first thing in the morning. If I'd put it off until later, I knew I'd probably end up putting it off all day! So after my snack, I went into the living room, turned on the ceiling fan, made sure my water bottle and dumbbells were close by...and I worked out!
It was definitely a challenge. I had to modify the high impact moves, such as jumping jacks. Jillian Michaels doesn't give modifications for jumping jacks; she thinks everyone should do them. But I HAD to modify and make it low impact. Otherwise, my knees and hips would be hurting so bad, I wouldn't even be able to get out of bed tomorrow! But even with the modifications, I worked hard. There were a couple of times when I thought "I can't do this" but I just pushed those thoughts aside and forced myself to keep going. I always tell myself "slow down if you must, but do NOT stop!"
At the end of the workout, I felt so proud of myself. I did it! I was exhausted, shaky, out of breath and covered in sweat...and I felt fantastic! The workout wasn't easy (after all, they don't call it a WORKout for nothing) but I did it! And I'm going to do it again tomorrow. I know if I stick with it, I'll get better, and then I will be able to move up to level 2. (There are 3 levels.) I'm excited to see how much progress I make this month!
