Day One of the 30 Day Shred!

Today was my first day doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred workout! I got up this morning and after a pre-workout snack, I got right to it. I knew that I needed to do it first thing in the morning. If I'd put it off until later, I knew I'd probably end up putting it off all day! So after my snack, I went into the living room, turned on the ceiling fan, made sure my water bottle and dumbbells were close by...and I worked out!



It was definitely a challenge. I had to modify the high impact moves, such as jumping jacks. Jillian Michaels doesn't give modifications for jumping jacks; she thinks everyone should do them. But I HAD to modify and make it low impact. Otherwise, my knees and hips would be hurting so bad, I wouldn't even be able to get out of bed tomorrow! But even with the modifications, I worked hard. There were a couple of times when I thought "I can't do this" but I just pushed those thoughts aside and forced myself to keep going. I always tell myself "slow down if you must, but do NOT stop!"



At the end of the workout, I felt so proud of myself. I did it! I was exhausted, shaky, out of breath and covered in sweat...and I felt fantastic! The workout wasn't easy (after all, they don't call it a WORKout for nothing) but I did it! And I'm going to do it again tomorrow. I know if I stick with it, I'll get better, and then I will be able to move up to level 2. (There are 3 levels.) I'm excited to see how much progress I make this month!

    Happy you enjoy Jillian. I don't do her after my RD suggested I use Jillian's "Ripped in 30". At that time I weighed 169 pounds and I could not do some of her moves on level two. Jillian's remark that she has 300 and 400 pound people that can do the exercise, yet you never see any of those people on her DVD. I know what my limitations are and that is what I use to determine what I am capable of doing or not. That is reason I use Coach Nicole and Leslie Sansone, those are two people I trust. I sincerely hope you are able to achieve your goal with Jillian, makes you a far better achiever than me.

    I'm glad you made modifications on the video. I'm not keen on an all or nothing approach with some trainers, its how you get injured! You'll be fine though since you are motivated and pushing on~ emoticon

    Great! My friend did the whole program and even brought it with her when a group of us went out of town. There were seven of us all doing it at the same time in various stages of health and fitness. Jillian is tough and we felt good that we were all able to do it. Keep up the good work!

    Way to go!! I also have to modify jumping jacks for the time being. I would rather modify them for a while and be able to exercise regularly than to do the jumping jacks and not be able to walk for several days.
You got the right idea, girl!! Keep on keeping on!!

    Great job! I did Day 1 on Sunday....also had to modify the jumping jacks because I am dealing with a possibly fractured big toe! I kept hearing Jillian say "there are no modifications for jumping jacks, I have 400 pound people doing them"!! emoticon Guess we showed her who was boss!!! emoticon
