Day One of the 30 Day Shred!

Today was my first day doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred workout! I got up this morning and after a pre-workout snack, I got right to it. I knew that I needed to do it first thing in the morning. If I'd put it off until later, I knew I'd probably end up putting it off all day! So after my snack, I went into the living room, turned on the ceiling fan, made sure my water bottle and dumbbells were close by...and I worked out!



It was definitely a challenge. I had to modify the high impact moves, such as jumping jacks. Jillian Michaels doesn't give modifications for jumping jacks; she thinks everyone should do them. But I HAD to modify and make it low impact. Otherwise, my knees and hips would be hurting so bad, I wouldn't even be able to get out of bed tomorrow! But even with the modifications, I worked hard. There were a couple of times when I thought "I can't do this" but I just pushed those thoughts aside and forced myself to keep going. I always tell myself "slow down if you must, but do NOT stop!"



At the end of the workout, I felt so proud of myself. I did it! I was exhausted, shaky, out of breath and covered in sweat...and I felt fantastic! The workout wasn't easy (after all, they don't call it a WORKout for nothing) but I did it! And I'm going to do it again tomorrow. I know if I stick with it, I'll get better, and then I will be able to move up to level 2. (There are 3 levels.) I'm excited to see how much progress I make this month!

  So proud of you! I want to start working out to that DVD but I haven't had a chance to quite yet. I know it'll be tough (and there's no way I can do jumping jacks) but I'm looking forward to starting it when I can. :)

    Great blog Pixie. I have this same DVD and was able to find 30 day shred with weights (both from Target). the one with weights is sooo hard. But I like the other one and plan on starting it up again!

    You're absolutely right about making your own modifications rather than stopping. I do the same thing with Insanity workouts. We already know what happens if we quit:)

    I started the Thirty Day Shred on July 2nd!! I've had the DVD for years and have done it maybe 3 days and quit. But I've vowed this time to do it for the full 30 days. We can do this!!!!

  Jillian has a quote that I had on my desk at work that was always very motivating for me and my students. Why choose to fail when success is an option. Congrats for choosing SUCCESS. I personally need this motivation, lately it has been a struggle for me.

    I love Jillian Michaels. She is a beast! :) I love her workout programs, as well! Sometimes I have had to modify her workouts, too. I suffer from hip and back issues from time to time and her workouts can cause a little aggravation if you aren't careful. We can always find a way! :) Here's to you!

    That is great, keep it up. I have done that DVD and also Ripped in 30, I love Jillian Michael's. She really works you out. When I started her DVD's it was so hard, and I thought I could not do it. Now I can finish her DVD's without a problem, it took a while, but they really get you into shape. Don't give up, you can do it.

    I must say it gets better!!! I didn't do it everyday for the 30 days but I did it enough to where I moved up to Level 2....... I don't know if it is because I have been working out or if Level 2 is easier!!! I also modify the jumping jacks so don't feel bad!! You are doing great!!! You will be at Level 2 in no time!!!
