Weekend Success!

Monday, July 01, 2013

What a great weekend! My son had a great baseball tournament! He pitched really great with 10 strike outs in one game! He is becoming quite a leader! Can you tell I'm a VERY proud mom!?!

We camped instead of staying in a hotel. Therefore, we didn't have to eat out every meal. It is camping tradition to have treats galore. These treats range from homemade cookies to candy bars to Chex party mix to Golden Nugget ice cream bars from the Schwans man. I learned some very valuable lessons this weekend.

1. My mood, attitude, energy level and overall outlook really are a direct reflection of what I put in my body. I ate a few treats, sat down in the chair and fell asleep for 2 hours.

2. I can eat out and make good choices. We ate at Red Lobster for a celebration meal. I ordered the grilled shrimp skewers from the lunch menu instead of the traditional fried shrimp!

3. I can resist the urge to drink pop! I love pop, Diet Dr. Pepper to be exact. I would say it's an addiction. I used to drink a 6 pack of bottles everyday. I knew going into this weekend I had a huge challenge on my hands. I even told myself, "If you slip up, it will be okay. You can just start over when you get home." Let me tell you, it wasn't a cake walk. I wanted a pop, badly. I could almost taste it, feel the bubbles of carbonation dancing in my mouth. BUT, I DIDN'T! I resisted the temptation. I drank tea and water all weekend. This 8 servings of water a day gets easier all the time!

Both you and your son did great! Sounds like lots of fun and I'm happy for you that you were able to make good choices.

I used to be a softball mom and soccer mom. The girls are grown now and I actually miss the games. It was my social life. Along with it came the "healthy" food choices in the concession stands (yeah right), and eating out on the road, or take out for dinners due to lack of desire or time to cook. But the kids and the games are what make it all worthwhile. Enjoy every second of them! And kudos to the ten strikeouts! Now THAT's an accomplishment!

Happy fourth!

WOOHOO!!!!! emoticon So great about the tournament!

Our boy got the last out on the last play of our last game! He was so thrilled. He had a lot of plays at 3rd and watching his expression as he would catch the ball and run to the base touched my heart.

I did not do the instant challenge over the weekend emoticon .

Great job on the "pop" LOL! Down here in South Central VA we call it "drink" probably with 6 syllables! LOL!!!!!

Hope your week of the 4th is fabulous!
