What a great weekend! My son had a great baseball tournament! He pitched really great with 10 strike outs in one game! He is becoming quite a leader! Can you tell I'm a VERY proud mom!?!
We camped instead of staying in a hotel. Therefore, we didn't have to eat out every meal. It is camping tradition to have treats galore. These treats range from homemade cookies to candy bars to Chex party mix to Golden Nugget ice cream bars from the Schwans man. I learned some very valuable lessons this weekend.
1. My mood, attitude, energy level and overall outlook really are a direct reflection of what I put in my body. I ate a few treats, sat down in the chair and fell asleep for 2 hours.
2. I can eat out and make good choices. We ate at Red Lobster for a celebration meal. I ordered the grilled shrimp skewers from the lunch menu instead of the traditional fried shrimp!
3. I can resist the urge to drink pop! I love pop, Diet Dr. Pepper to be exact. I would say it's an addiction. I used to drink a 6 pack of bottles everyday. I knew going into this weekend I had a huge challenge on my hands. I even told myself, "If you slip up, it will be okay. You can just start over when you get home." Let me tell you, it wasn't a cake walk. I wanted a pop, badly. I could almost taste it, feel the bubbles of carbonation dancing in my mouth. BUT, I DIDN'T! I resisted the temptation. I drank tea and water all weekend. This 8 servings of water a day gets easier all the time!
