Day 29..BBQ Tips, Inspirational!

So as most can probably tell I am so obsessed with grilling because to me bbq's bring people together and there as so many times that people stay away from them because of the choices such as hot dogs (they speak for themselves) hamburgers with cheese on white bread, baked potatoes loaded with fatty goodness, cakes, pasta salad, potato salad, egg salad... (all loaded with sodium and often mayo which is high in fat, and other additions) but you can modify all these options or bring stuff of your own maybe your that person who brings the big bowl of fruit salad (a nice tip after you cut the fresh fruit let it soak in lemon water for a few seconds, this will help the fruit to not turn brown and oxidize) Plus you can bring chicken breasts and instead of giving everyone a whole huge breast cut each breast in 1/2 to give a great portion. Or the ever so common veggie platter...Don't sabotage yourself by being stuck eating a plate of food that you know will hurt you and don't let yourself not attend these events with your loved ones because of your diet! Now on to maself after I got my motivational speech outa the way lol... I got up and went walking with my best friend again today and we got just over 2 miles in before the rain came so I was pretty happy about that! We have been blessed so far and the rain has avoided our walking time every time so far (for the most part) but its raining a l0t! So its just super nice to have it calm so we can get our work outs in :) When I got home I had lunch, did some cleaning and then did my 10 minute cardio blast workout dvd with my daughter... Panted like a dog and then jumped in the shower! I am getting my daughter really involved with eating healthier and she is forced to do my workout dvd with me. I love her way to much to let her sit around all day and play her dsi, wii, playstation, computer... and be lazy.... So she has a chore list now, a workout we do together, and then she gets 2 hours a day for these activities. Plus she has to read every day .... I know some don't approve but you know what I love her to much to just get her mcdonalds all the time and stuff food in her mouth like some parents I know to keep her quiet and from nagging them. I would hate myself if I let her grow up and she had diabetes at 18 because I took the easy way with her and let he do it.. I would hate myself if she got picked on for being a "big girl" by other kids... like her mommy did... My mothers excuse was she was tired when she got off work so she got me whatever I wanted so I was a fat kid... Granted my weight now is all my fault because I am an adult and know what I was doing before was horrible but as a child you don't prepare your own meals, your parents do so maybe if I grew up with better nutritional values things may have been different. But I'm here now and making things right and going to give my beautiful girl a chance I didn't have! She gets her treats here and there but not all the time and not in the quantities I see other children eating lol and seconds is a absolute no :)

    Your daughter is so cute. I praise you on keeping her busy and joining active she like. I know that very important.

    You're a very smart parent by getting your daughter involved with your exercise. Another way to start good habits is to let her help you cook. Most kids like to mess around in the kitchen. Your daughter is very pretty.
