Time to exhale and do summer.

Monday, July 01, 2013

Thanks be to the grace of God, the dangerous month of June has safely passed, and life resumes once again. Time to exhale and let out the deep, deep breath that took me through June. Since my daughter passed 17 years ago on June 3oth, the month of June is like walking on eggs. It's her birthday, then 2 days later, my birthday, then 13 days later, the anniversary of her passing. This year I really buckled down and worked my program to the fullest. I even ordered out two dresses in the next smaller size when they went on sale at unbeatable prices. In order to wear them, I had to go forward on target, tracking all the way. I did that, and went to bed emotionally hungry for a late night snack more than a few times. Last night I was too empty to sleep and the usual late night TV shows just weren't doing it for me, so I finally gave in after 1 AM, and went out to the kitchen for a lemon Greek yogurt. I also took the time to write down the WW points on today's tracking page. As I look out on the day it's very grey, dreary, and humid, but it doesn't matter. I'm going out later, into the day, having come through the most difficult of times, and going forward. It's what we need to do to fully engage in life as we find it. As the Bible wisely instructs us to do: "...leave those things behind and go forth to what lies ahead, to press on toward the prize..."Phil. 3:13-14

Your thoughts and concerns in June were too heavy for anyone. You did get through it. You are also doing well with your healthy lifestyle.
Emotional eating didn't get to you. That's a miracle.
Take care, and you are in my prayers.

June is a rough time for you but you did well in getting through it. One greek yougurt in the scheme of your whole month's program is hardly a big deal. I am facing my emotional triggers too, as are many and none of us can do it perfectly Jesus was the only perfect being on earth. In heaven maybe its possible. You know what is triggering you and you have handled it successfully for all but once in the month. Instead of dwelling on that one slip, think of all the times you carried through and how you did that. And be gentle and kind to yourself, as you would do for a dear friend that was going through the same situation and grief. Remember the second commandment of Jesus was Love thy neighbor as YOU LOVE YOURSELF. It is not only a command to treat your neighbors in a loving manner but also a command for us to love ourselves. Which believe me is not always easy. Look at how well you held to your program and denied yourself the eating to appease your emotions! Every time you did it it was acting in love, so much love that you wouldn't give in and eat in an unhealthy way. But each time the decison was tough too. You are an admirable woman emoticon

God has given your courage..... because birthdays, Christmas, and the rest, are the most difficult.

I know it doesn't ever totally go away... but it seems as if God is making beauty from ashes.

I do think the dress thing and other things you mentioned honor her legacy. emoticon
