This weekend we fit in a ton of family time and outdoor time. Saturday morning I was able to get out for a nice 5.7 mile run with my friend. It was a beautiful and cooler morning so the run felt awesome. After running I had a bunch of errands to get done and food to prep for my BIL 30th birthday. I took the easy route and just picked up a pre-made veggie tray. It is much cheaper to cut up your own veggies and fruit but with everything I packed into Saturday, I was willing to pay the few extra dollars for the convenience.
My BIL's party was so much fun! He roasted a pig for the party and had his house all decked out (thanks to some of his great friends). I did try the pig although I was feeling a little queasy by seeing the full pig there on the grill. Thank goodness I did not see the brains until after I was done eating. My two BIL's both tried it... it was enough to make me throw up in my mouth a little. I am not good with meat, eggs, etc... As long as you don't talk about the animal, I am OK. But the minute someone says something... I am done. I guess I should just go vegetarian!
My BIL made up a fun game to play while we were there. He had random summer things hanging up around his home. Once you had to "go" you would pick up a rubber duckie out of the bathtub. Each rubber duckie had a number on the bottom of it. You would bring the duck to him and get a prize. It made some great conversations and laughs on who could get in there to pee first. The one item everyone wanted... the big stuffed Patrick from Spongebob. I will have to remember this game for my next party!
There was lots of laughs, lots of drinking, and lots of inappropriate conversations. LOL! We ended the night sitting by the bonfire and then laughing all the way home. It was a great night!
Sunday we met up with my side for some more fun in the sun out at Valleyfair. I was asked to take engagement pictures of my sister and her finance which was a ton of fun. We got lots of great shots! Then it was all about the rides and some splashing around at the water park.
After spending the day walking around at Valleyfair we still all had a little energy to have some more fun in the sun. We went biking and stopped off at the ball field to swing the bat a few times. My oldest pitched to me and I was able to hit some balls off of him. He is a fast pitcher! My daughter even got in there... although he slowed it up for her.
Biking back home my daughter decided to off road it a bit. There is a steep hill she hasn't mastered going down yet. She tried it once and ended up not being able to stop and flying into the weeds. Most of the time she walks her bike down but last night she tried it again going into the grass to help her stop.
I just LOVE biking!!! Such a great way to get the kids out too!
Only a few days of work this week and then we are off for some more family fun! Can't wait!
