Obedience is following the commands or guidance of. As children, we were told many times we had to obey our parents, teachers and basically anyone older than us because it was the respectful thing to do. When we obeyed, there were less issues and problems. However, as we grew older we learned obedience to God was also necessary in order to have a less stressful life. God has commands and guidelines for our daily living in His word. It pleases Him when we obey them. Obedience to Him is better than anything we could ever give to Him.
1 Samuel 15:22 “But Samuel replied, ‘What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.’” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we know You have reasons for all that You require us to do. We don’t need to question Your commands. We don’t need to deviate from Your guidelines. We simply need to obey. You alone know what is right for our lives. Help us today to comply to Your will and follow Your commands. We can’t do this alone. We need You in every aspect of our lives. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God doesn’t want our offerings if we aren’t being obedient to Him in all other areas of our lives.
When we aren’t obedient to God, we aren’t truly living to the capacity He wants us to live.
We can have and be and do so much more when we are obedient to God.
God knows what is best for us. He knows our beginning and our end. That is why we should be obedient to Him.
Being obedient to God is obeying all of His commands, not just some of them.
Special blessings God created just for us will come from our obedience to Him.
Deuteronomy 15:5 “You will receive this blessing if you are careful to obey all the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today.” (NLT)
