Gluten Free New York

Sunday, June 30, 2013

Well, I talked on and on enough about Minneapolis and how Gluten Free-friendly it is. But what about my own home city, the Big Apple?

Surely, New York wins for a lot of healthy initiatives:

1. Posting of calorie content at restaurant chains (although I enjoy this – as I mentioned in this post – it appears to have minimal impact on changing unhealthy eating behavior);
2. The recent implementation of the “CitiBike” bike sharing program (Minneapolis has been doing this for three years now); and
3. Limiting soda sizes, raising the smoking age, and other actions that have yet to pass, but still should get an honorable mention…

Because my friends had to cancel our weekend plans, I found myself with some free time to spend with my city-dwelling brother and his girlfriend. She happens to have Celiac disease, so I knew I’d be on board for whatever mealtime stops they wanted to make...

Lots of links and photos from my trip yesterday - To see where we went and my recommendations on where to go when you are in NYC, click here:

Like I've said before, a bit easier to link and post photos there. Thanks!
