End of my first official week back into the swing of things and it's been going well overall. I feel a bit discouraged during my workouts though because I keep remembering how "It use to be". My endurance and stamina isn't up to the same level as I was. But I do remind myself that I only got to that place because I started at the bottom. Compared to when I very first started to exercise a few years ago I am leaps and bounds ahead. I could barely walk around the block! I'm learning to be patient with myself as I work my way back to a fitter me. Overall though I've completed my first week of the Sparkpeople 5k your way running training schedule and logged in 12 miles this week
. The Nike+ sensor that I won from my fitness challenge last year is really coming in handy! Even though I don't have the fancy Nike shoes to go with it I bought a little pouch to put it in and lace it into my shoe laces. I like the feedback that it provides verbally like the distance, pace, and time. I know that it isn't 100% accurate, but for my needs I am very pleased. This coming week in between my run days I plan uping my strength training by doing the 30 day shred. Along with a fun cardio of my choice like a Richard Simmons work out (No matter what I can't get rid of him!) , step aerobics, or my Rockin' Body workout dvd
My eating has been going pretty well to. There are days when I eat maybe 100-200 calories more then my 1500 goal, but its on nothing bad like chips or sweets. I do want to reign that in though and maybe give myself one day out of the week where I can "splurge" with the extra 100-200 calories. Kind of how it was when I followed the weight watchers plan. I loved those "anytime points". I have been getting creative as well with my food. Since it's summer I can't eat my bowl of oatmeal like I can in the fall and winter. A while back I had tried an "eggs and oats" recipe that I found here on sparkpeople and I really liked it. I've elaborated on it a bit and it's turned into a breakfast scramble
. So I get a serving of whole grains, protein, and veggies in one meal. All you do is mix a serving of oatmeal oats ( 1 or 2 servings, I usually do 2 if I'm really hungry), an egg, a bit of water, and whatever veggies you like. I usually do green onion, tomato, shredded carrot, and fresh spinach. I add a bit of seasoning to like garlic powder, onion powder, pepper and salt to taste. I also add a tbs. of olive oil just to get a healthy fat. Then you cook it up in a skillet with a bit of cooking spray until the oats are softer and a bit brown, and it's very tasty! I sometimes top it with a bit of reduced fat feta as well. Later in the day due to the heat, I don't much feel like eating so I made a quick cucumber and carrots salad with apple cider vinegar, olive oil, parsley, and a bit of red onion. It was quick and very refreshing on a hot day
