Today I finished my first challenge with Spark Team; Cycling - Road, Mountain, Fun, Racing. Having just started road cycling I set my goal to 175 miles, significantly less than most of the other members. It really gave me a sense of camaraderie and pushed me to not let the team down. Of course what I got out was great exercise, scenic rides and new friends.

Also today DH put clipless pedals on my bike, first I practiced with the bike on the trainer before heading out on the ride. Made the first stop sign without any problem, but when we stopped for water; left foot ok, right foot ....you know the rest. I tumbled over at least it was the right side so I went into the grassy yet thorny spot. Skinned the left shin, a couple of thorns in the fingers and bruised my ego....of course 2 cars came by right then too.
So at least I got the first tumble out of the way. The bike was spared the indignity of any scratches. Keep on pedaling!

Sounds like loads of fun! (aside from the tumble). I've had such nasty bike accidents... but the worst part is always the bruised ego :P
Congrats and keep on pedaling!

Sounds pretty good despite the small tumble. Way to go! I got a spin bike and later realized it had clips instead of pedals. We ended up getting pedals that strap. The problem is - with me - when I ride with my foot in the strap, it pushes my alignment out of whack. Essentially, my hips and knees start to have problems. So, I ride (right now) with the pedals upside down. Hopefully I will get just normal pedals (hate those spikes on them).

Doubt this bothers everyone - but I like to be unique (even in my problems :-)

It's got to be amazing riding as a group - the scenery - you must have had an amazing time! Way to go!!!

I am not a biker so I am not sure what you mean by clipless. Sorry you fell. Glad you're okay though. Congrats on your mileage. That's awesome. emoticon

Good for you for going clipless in the first place. I've found clipless/ cleat related falls happen for the silliest reasons. I've tried falling elegantly but don't seem to have mastered the art and end up in a ungainly heap . But we get just back on a keep on riding ........ whooo hoo!
