Hello dear Sparkfriends,
Today’s hike was the most extraordinary example of a hike that cleared my mind. I felt so burdened, and, after 5 minutes walking on the path, I had forgotten all my worries. For 3 hours I just had a fantastic time.
I had hoped for poppies, and there were lots!
The sun was shining bright, but there was also a very pleasant breeze, and the path often took me either by a small river, the Viosne, or in the shade (or both!).
It was beautiful! And how could one not have a great time when there are so many flowers to look at?
I love the smell of elderflowers, don’t you?
As I had been walking through the woods for a while, I got a wonderful surprise...
Yes! Wild orchids! I didn’t expect to find some so late in the season, so it was a real treat.
These ones (Anacamptis pyramidalis) were much smaller than the ones (Orchis purpurea) I had found in the hills above Giverny a few weeks ago.
The last part of the hike didn’t disappoint either. The sun was gently warming my skin and I felt like I was so far away!...
I was almost sad to see Santeuil’s church (12-13th centuries) appear in the distance... It was the end of my ‘me time’, time to go back to reality.
I would like to end with a few personal words to all those of you who picked up from my status updates this week that it was a rough time and sent me a little note or put a kind comment on my feed. Thank you. It meant a lot to me. I know it seems contradictory, but it really is both the most difficult and the most beautiful time I have encountered – beautiful because it is healing scars I didn't think could be mended.
As always, I’ll try and focus on the beautiful!
