Kind of nervous about quitting smoking

Maybe a week ago, I was chatting with a friend on the internet and said to him, "I think you and I should quit smoking together on July 4th". Tonight I was reminded of that ... and though, I had given it little thought, apparently he has. So... the plan is indeed to quit smoking on July 4th. I have been smoking since I was 21 years old. I have tried to quit numerous times over the years. Have had a few successes, once for three months, but some how always go back to the nasty habit. I do think it will help to have a quit buddy. I know from experience that it is a very hard habit to break! Seems like the more I think about it tonight the more anxious I get. But ... that does not mean I am not ready to quit because I am! I know the health risk and the monetary cost as well. it's just time to give it up for good.

    You can do it. Everytime you think about a cigarette think about all the wonderful health benefits you'll get from quitting. emoticon

    You can do it. It will be WELL WORTH the challenge. It may really help to have a buddy, but what will help even more is for you to figure out what will make it a bit easier for you. We are ALL standing with you on this one - in their 30s, my sons BOTH managed to quit after smoking since they started sneaking their father's cigarettes when they were still kids. One went cold turkey and the other weaned off slowly but after nearly 2 years was finally smoke-free - you gotta know what works for YOU. Good progress - I hate to say "LUCK" because it takes effort, determination, planning, and lots of stick-to-it-iveness

    I want to send you good vibes while you work on quitting smoking. I have tried many times to do this just like yo-yo dieting. Right now I am working on cutting down the amount per day....also like dieting some days are better than others. YOU can do this...nice to have a "buddy" to help along the way. emoticon

    It is a great idea to quit smoking. I used to smoke and I quit some years ago now. I found having my last smoke last thing at night as well keeping away from smokers helped me. I was a chain smoker and a heavy smoker. It is well worth and just like watching what you eat emoticon emoticon
