Today I decided to replace my tennis shoes. Now I call everything a tennis shoe that is not a regular shoe. I have a pair of tennis shoes I bought about 12 years ago. Supposedly the brand was made for women, wider front and narrow heel. I bought them to use on the treadmill. They were white and still looked brand new until I hurt my foot, then I had to wear them all the time. Anyway, I did not wear them out in those 12 years, they dry rotted! They became very stiff and had very little flexibility.
Because of the foot problems I have, I thought I'd stop in one of the foot stores. Right off the bat they wanted me to have some type of imaging etc. I told them I was under doctor and physical therapist care at the moment so I did not need all their tests.
Anyway, he had me try on the Chung Shi shoe. I only put one on and it reminded me of the rocker boot I am wearing. I did not try on both and walk around because they were tight. He then brought out another pair that was a bit loose, but had a strap on the heal for adjustment, also they did not have the same degree of rocker. I did put both of them on and walk around and they felt pretty good. I liked the look of the first pair. When I was leaving I looked again at the first pair and noticed he brought out the wrong size! The size he brought out was 1.5-2 sizes smaller than I wear!
I know everyone has their own standard of "Expensive". I hate paying $25.00 for shoes but know I am going to have to start buying better built shoes. These were in the $100.00-$150.00 range.
I liked the shoe and I do believe it helped stretch the Achilles, felt like a massage while I was wearing them. I will check with the foot doc and the PT before I purchase them, but was wondering if anyone has used a pair.
