I restarted this journey with my hubby in February of 2013. I started out at 220 pounds. My goal weight is to be 160 pounds for my height.
Well, all this time I have been exercising but not truly counting how many calories I consumed until June.
Well, I downloaded the Sparkpeople App for my phone to track my fitness and calories each day. It is very helpful. Sparkpeople recommends I eat 1220-1570 calories a day to get to my goal weight.
Well, it's been a struggle since February and seeing my weight not go down....BUT once I started using my tracker to track my food and watch what I eat in June, I'm down FIVE POUNDS!!! I was not expecting that much of a loss because I've been so bummed about just maintaining my weight before.
Now I know why we haven't been losing when we have been exercising....IT WAS OUR FOOD INTAKE! I did not realize how fast you can get to your calorie intake in a day.....I just am learning to make healthy choice.
My hubby has lost 11 pounds so far since his journey started too! We were both very happy when we stepped on the scale this morning and saw the drastic weight change.
We both know now that exercise is not the only thing you have to do......You HAVE to keep track of what you eat! We know that now!
We are going to keep on truckin! We went grocery shopping this morning and actually looked at all of the nutrition labels and realized that our usual macaroni and cheese favorite is actually a big no no now. It's like 600 calories for a cup of macaroni! Yikes!!!
Next week we are on our last week of c25k!!! woohoo!!!! We are rocking it. So far we are running about a 12 minute mile which is good. Our 5k is in September so we will keep it up!!!
I was looking in the mirror the other day at my calves and I'm proud of what I see.....I know the soreness and pain while running and the burn after running is helping them tone up and get stronger!
