Earlier this week, I posted about the top three things that drag my weight loss progress down. It was good for me to be honest and acknowledge them, because having them written out seems to hold me to a higher standard of accountability.
I was proud of myself because yesterday I went to a work-sponsored BBQ where the menu was pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob, brownies and cupcakes. I think I ate well (I didn't feel deprived at all) and when I came home I tracked everything I had eaten. I still was able to eat normal meals the rest of the day and not go over my allotted calorie intake! I was pleasantly surprised, especially since in the past I probably wouldn't have bothered to track; just assuming I had eaten way too much and it wasn't worth tracking. It's all about the baby steps!
But getting to the point of this blog...I'm not a negative person at all, so I wanted to give just as much attention to the things I do well as to those that drag me down. So...
Do Well #1 - Consistent Exercise
I am very good at making time for the gym. I like to go first thing in the morning, before I have food in my stomach and before I shower for the day because once I shower it is about 10 times more difficult to go to the gym (and I have to shower in the morning...I'm just that kind of person). But on the rare occasion that my morning is too busy, I find time in the afternoon or evening to run, walk, or go to the gym. Sundays are my rest days but I still go for a walk to get a little exercise in.
Do Well #2 - Healthy Food
I am very nutrition conscious and read the labels of pretty much everything at the grocery store. I love finding the healthiest food on the shelf, and I love turning it into a meal! Discovering healthy veggies like spaghetti squash and kale was exciting to me. I think I am pretty good at being aware of my food choices and as long as I am in control of my pantry and what is on my plate, I do a great job eating well.
Do Well #3 - Staying Hydrated
I think one of the top reasons I've been able to lose weight is the amount of water I drink. I am very good about getting my 8 glasses (and then some) every day. If I crave a hot beverage, it is usually tea without milk or sugar. I love tea! I don't have a desire to even drink soda pop and the occasional alcoholic beverage (usually in a social setting) is about the only other drink I'll have.
I could list some more, but I'm going to stop bragging about myself now! What are three things you do well?
