Workout at Home Options...

Since I realized yesterday that I can't afford a gym membership I have been looking at workout dvds. Now I'm a big girl and have been my whole life and I have limited mobility because of that. I also have a lower back injury so I can't do those crazy workout videos like S.W.A.T. Workout and things along those lines. I really need a low impact workout so I've been looking at Leslie Sansone's dvds. I owned one of her dvds before (for some reason, as I discovered today, it wont play anymore) and while I know there are videos I can watch on here for free I don't have the greatest of internet connections so videos don't always play for me, hence the idea of a dvd. I'm still a little bummed about the whole gym membership thing but I know I can't let that stand in my way of becoming healthy. I just have to make sure that whatever dvd I choose to buy and start making part of my routine doesn't become another dvd in my room that collects dust.

    I'm like you, 3 totally trashed discs in the lumbar area so work outs for me are limited. Some days, it's all I can do just to walk. But I walk anyway. I have this thought in the back of my head if I don't get up and get going, there may come a day when I can't.

Sorry your internet doesn't work for using the videos here. There are so many great choices and most are able to be modified for people like us.

You might try getting a head cleaner for your dvd player or cleaning the dvd. Oftentimes there is dust/dirt on the laser or stuff on the disc that makes them inoperable. They are inexpensive to buy and last for several cleanings. I'd do that especially if you're having problems with other discs playing smoothly. DVD's don't wear out the way tapes did.

    leslie sansone is great. I also work on alot of the dvd's from here and own a couple of dumbbells, and resistance band.

    I had lost 50 pounds a couple years prior to joining spark. I had a gym membership and once we couldn't afford it anymore, I used it as an excuse to not be able to work out (gained all the weight back, plus some due to pregnancy). However this time I do not have a gym membership and started my program out with things I could do from home. I feel like I have a great foundation for working out than I ever have and I know that, worst case scenario, if we don't have money for a gym membership- there's still PLENTY I can do.
