Today as I have to work at the church and live only a mile away, I decided to run/walk. Having grown up in the central valley of Ca where it is not hot until it reaches 103, I know how to run in heat. I left around 830 and it was already getting into the upper 70s here in LA. Nothing I know for a good portion of the country, but warm for here. I was reminded of the importance of slowing down when it is warm and the luxury of having a gym that believes in good air conditioning. With it only being a mile I toughed it out and I am glad I did. I walked more than I would like, but I was out there getting myself but into running shape. Rather than running a majority of the mile, I ran when I was in shade. (this was about every other block or so). Seemed to work out well. Got to my office, turned on the A/C, and stretched. Makes me grateful for simple things like simply being able to walk/run and A/C.
