Thought and Prayer for Saturday, June 29, 2013
Saturday, June 29, 2013
We all know people who are lazy. They may not be physically sleeping but they may as well be because they are doing nothing with their lives. They aren’t helping others. They aren’t reading the Bible. They aren’t praying. The only thing they are doing is to giving into the temptation of laziness and selfishness. It is a blunt thing to say but it is so true. It is easy to just relax and do nothing; however, the more we do nothing, the easier it gets and nothing continues to get done. It’s time we stopped giving into temptation of sleeping when we should be out doing things to help others.
Luke 22:46 “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, please help us today not to be lazy – not to sleep. Help us to get up and pray so we won’t be tempted and we can also help others to move away from temptation with Your help and guidance. So many times we look for excuses to do nothing. So many times we sleep when we should be awake and alert getting things done for You. Show us Your direction today and give us the wisdom, strength and courage to follow through with Your will for us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
There is a time for sleeping so that we can rest but there is also a time for staying awake and getting things done.
When we choose to sleep through life and just let it pass us by, we aren’t doing what God has called us to do.
When we don’t pray and we choose to just let things happen, we are taking chances that we shouldn’t take.
We shouldn’t take chances with the things in our life. There are no odds in prayer. There is simply God who is willing and ready to listen to our prayers.
We shouldn’t take chances when it comes to doing God’s will. He has a plan and path for us and when we choose to sleep rather than pray for guidance, the path we choose is ours and not His.
Every day we should pray that we don’t give into temptation and God will give us the strength we need when we need it.
Luke 22:40 “There he told them, “Pray that you will not give in to temptation.” (NLT)
