I don't care how many people want me to have a just have a bit! I WANT to be a 5%er!!!! I just read a blog about someone who is frustrated by those around her who don't understand her addiction, and want her to eat this and that! Well, I understand MINE! I NEVER want to have to lose 50 lbs again!!! NEVER EVER EVER. Just like I never ever ever want to have to quit smoking again!!!

Nope, I don't care who doesn't understand me! I don't care who says, "you're so skinny"! "You can eat what you want." "Don't deny yourself".

I DON'T CARE what they say...I NEVER want to have to lose 50 lbs NEVER EVER AGAIN and I'm going to ACT that way too!

I agree! I also have lost 50 pounds and have managed to keep it off for about two years now. I get people who have known me forever (meaning they KNOW I have a weight problem... they saw me 50 pounds heavier and all the work it took to get it off) who make comments and encourage me to eat, eat eat! Oh well! All we can do is think about how much better we feel when we eat "right." That's how I make it through those situations.

Me too! We are the ones who are in control and those who have never struggled with their weight or haven't been able to do what it takes to lose weight and keep it off can't ever really understand what goes into doing so successfully. You've got what it takes and I know that you'll be maintaining for many, many years to come!

    I completely agree with you.
It really annoys me when people give me advice on what I should eat and how much.
Eating is a very personal activity -- and there are lots of factors that go into determining how a person decides to eat.
I believe that each adult should be allowed to make his/her own decisions about food.

So, ignore them!

Good for you, you have changed your eating once and for all...there is no going back...if they'll don't understand then it is there problem not yours....

Keep up the great work...

BTW: Congrats on the stopping smoking as well...I still have to tackle that one...

One thing at a time, when I try to stop everything at once I weight first then the smoking...

You are so right about that!! And I'm betting you will NEVER EVER have 50 pounds to lose again because . . . you won't permit people to press you to eat what you don't want.

First of all congrats on stopping smoking and on losing 50 pounds.secondly, I understa nd where you are at. It's good to figure out how you plan to respond to food pushers, drink pushers too.
Thanks for reminding me that not all people can eat, or want to eat what I prepare and it's not me they are repulsing but the food I've offered may not agree with them or may not be needed.

I LOVE your blog!! It's so true and I can never understand why other people want to push food onto others. More so when you've already declined. My mother was horrible with this and I'd get to the point of getting mad, now I just let it roll over me and pay no attention. We are adults and it's our choice what we eat, when we eat and how much we want to eat!

The best answer to "you can eat what you want" is "You are so right! What I want is to eat deliciously healthy food that contributes to my happiness and well-being, so, thank you, but I don't want that (whatever it is) right now."

Kudos on not just the major accomplishment of weight loss, but more on the more important accomplishment of learning to put yourself first!

Your attitude will keep you at your goal. It seems to me that maintaining an ideal weight is much more work than losing in the first place...

Good for you! Knowing ahead of time how you want to respond makes it easier to respond that way when confronted by temptation! Well done!

emoticon emoticon That is the attitude you need to succeed. You simply have decided that you will choose what you eat, not someone else. I have learned to say no to people matter how they try to push you. You are showing great strength in maintenance. Good luck with your family coming!
