Still in space saving mode.
DH took apart our recumbent bike. He wanted it out of here so he decided to take it to out newly found scrap yard. He took the whole thing apart and I asked him to bring in the seat back. I saw THE LOOK on his face when I asked him to do that for me. I was sure he had already put it out in to the trash.
He dutifully came back in with it in his hand. I was sitting at the computer and I took if from his had and put it right behind my back. It is a firm back and I leaned in to it and it made my legs closer to the front if the seat so my legs have extended and no longer do they hurt from being bent over the edge of the seat. There is a couple of inches away from the back of my knees. I am certain it will help.

I have promised I have an entire week to test it. The garbage is usually Thursday but next week it will be Friday so I have a week to test it in the seat and in the RV and car.
If it is not a real success I will happily give it up. I hope it helps.
Our seats in the dining room are too long for my thighs so I have to sit on the edge of the chair. Now I can lean back and relax my back. You all know I will let you know if it is a success. HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon

    Very clever!

One thing I have found at my part-time job is that many people have the seats adjusted as if their legs were 6 feet long. An exaggeration, of course, but I always have to lower them to sit comfortably if I am at a computer.

Pat, I am so glad that the Predisone is helping your eye's again. I hope that they will find another med for you to take and get the same effects.

I hope that they can figure out what to do for tests. Hoping that they can help you from all that pain and stuff.

What a great idea about the seat. Hope that it works good for you. Best wishes.

Love Dot

Pat, I sure do know what you mean about seats being too long. I have the same problem. In my rocking chair I have a small pillow at the base of my back. Hope you experiment is a success. HUGS, Terry

Pat,

Hope this works for you. If it doesn't my 4' 11" friend purchased a back support for her car which is kind of a partial seatback. It works great for her to reach the pedals etc. Something like that would probably work if this doesn't. Hers is fairly small and she travels with it etc.

Good luck,

Cathy

Okay, I've deleted my comment twice now. 3rd times a charm right!
I really hope this works for you Pat emoticon emoticon . I know that pillows behind you help but offer no support. I even went as far as buying a recliner made specifically for shorter people. I like it but so do my sons who range from 5'10 to 6'3.

What a great solution Pat! Hope it works!

HUGS and probably won't be back from IL till Monday. Have to get Mom back here as they plan to discharge on Sunday. OY Can't believe. Dad was going to put her in a rehab, but I just don't feel that will work and she'd end up being discharged to home. He and I are going to look @ a few facilities so he can cement it in his mind that it's NOT the right choice.

Wish me luck!

I have issues w/the backs of chairs being set back too far, since I have short, stubby legs. I'm always sitting on the edge of seats because of it, so I understand! Whatever works! Do it!
